Welcome to Guatemala! In this program, students set off from Guatemala City, the nation's capital, to travel to Antigua and see El Pacaya, an active volcano. After a quick stop to buy some exotic candies, it's off to Chichicastenango to shop in the outdoor market and witness a Mayan ritual. Throughout the program, students will learn about some of the cultural traditions, history, climate and politics of Guatemala, including how volcanic sediment makes the soil excellent for farming. Before their journey ends, students will explore the Mayan ruins at Tikal and encounter some critters at the wildlife preserve in Monterrico. Students will learn about the country's history, political system, currency, language, religion and climate, as well as visit a few of the most famous sites and sample delicious foods.They’ll also learn about each country's unique contribution to our global village called Earth. This series is perfect for elementary and middle school students.
