A video of New Orleans and its famous Mardi Gras that is designed exclusively for classroom use! Students will gain an understanding of the history and traditions surrounding Mardi Gras and New Orleans. The video moves from costume design and creation to display in one of the many Mardi Gras parades. In addition to the parade floats with their Krewes, beads and masks, the music, food and culture of the city of New Orleans are also highlighted. The bawdier revelry often associated with Mardi Gras is not a part of this video. DVD is in both French and English with optional French subtitles. Select French or English for the accompanying workbook which provides vocabulary, viewing and post-viewing activities.
