This guide accompanies the lighthearted, yet touching film "The Princess and the Barrio Boy." The movie touches on young love, friendship, family unity, and typical high school issues. Several important aspects of Hispanic culture in the United States are covered in the film and the packet includes information about education of Hispanics in the U.S., Hispanic families, murals in L.A., Quinceaneras, and mariachi music.
Activities are provided so teachers can have their students create a mural, plan a Quinceanera, and interview a famous Hipsanic person from the community. Additional activities include crossword puzzles, a quiz, comprehension questions in English and Spanish, a character description listening activity, journal prompts, Las Mananitas song lyrics, and more.
